Tuber Order Changes & Cancellations
If you need to cancel your order, a processing fee of $15 or 25% (whichever is greater) will apply. We’re not able to cancel parts of an order—only full cancellations are possible. All cancellation requests must be sent to fishbackhillflowers@gmail.com by April 14th with the subject line clearly stating CANCELLATION. You must provide the order number. Orders will start shipping April 15th.
We can’t make edits to existing orders. If you’d like to add more items, please place a second order.
⸻
**Limit 1** Varieties
Limited varieties will be limited to 1 tuber per househould. If more than 1 tuber is purchased, the entire order will be canceled and refunded.
⸻
Refunds & Returns – Dahlia Tubers
We offer a 24-hour refund request window on dahlia tubers only.
If a tuber arrives in poor condition, you’ll need to email within 24 hours of delivery based on the USPS delivery scan. We strongly recommend opening and inspecting your box as soon as it arrives.
To request a refund, please email fishbackhillflowers@gmail.com with REFUND in the subject line and include clear photos of the issue. After submission, we’ll email you with next steps. You’ll return the tuber to us (shipping can happen after the 24-hour window), and we’ll issue your refund once it arrives.
Please note: The first line of action should always be to contact Fishback Hill Flowers versus posting photos on social media if you have an issue. We’re more than happy to evaluate any concerns directly—just reach out with a photo, and we’ll take it from there. Failure to follow proper protocol will void refund.
⸻
Final Sale Policy
After the 24-hour window has passed from delivery per USPS scan, all sales are considered final. We do not offer refunds or replacements for:
• Tubers or cuttings that rot, shrivel, or die before planting
• Tubers or cuttings that don’t sprout or bloom
• Stunted or weak plant growth
• Any signs of disease after delivery
Exceptions apply only in cases of confirmed packaging errors or losses in storage before shipping (outlined below).
⸻
Packaging Accuracy
Please open and check your order immediately. If we sent the wrong variety or missed something, email us within 24 hours with a photo of what you received. If we made an error, we’ll either send the correct item or refund the missing one. After 24 hours, we can’t make corrections.
⸻
Storage Loss Before Shipping
Sometimes, certain varieties don’t do well during winter storage. If that happens, we’ll issue a refund for the item we are unable to fulfill. If the rest of your order is unaffected, it will still ship. If that was your only item, we’ll also refund your shipping fee. We do not offer substitutes or replacements for out-of-stock tubers.

Small, Imperfect & Dormant Tubers
Here’s what to expect from our dahlia tubers:
Small Tubers
We send healthy tubers that are at least the size of an AA battery. Size doesn’t affect growth—as long as it has a body, a neck, and a visible eye, it has everything it needs to thrive. We also may need to trim large tubers so they fit safely in shipping boxes.
“Ugly” Tubers
Tubers are not pretty—and that’s normal! They grow underground, so they might be wrinkled, twisted, scarred, or bumpy. Some may have peeling skin, end cuts, lenticels, or minor body damage. We only ship tubers we’d plant in our own field and trust will grow in yours. Sometimes your tuber may have its neck taped with masking tape or have pruning sealant applied. This is to provide reinforcement during the storage and shipping process and does not affect how the tuber will product.
Dormant Eyes
Tuber eyes are sometimes difficult to see but every tuber has been inspected by yours truly to verify that an eye is present. They may be:
• Dormant eyes: Look like small cracks or bumps
• Awake eyes: Look like tiny pearls in colors like white, pink, green, or red
• Sprouted eyes: Early shoots starting to grow

Our Promise
We are a licensed and inspected nursery in the state of Oregon. We do not routinely test our plants for viruses unless it’s part of a process overseen by our inspector. If testing is requested during inspection, we follow their procedures.
The American Dahlia Society has shown that approximately 87% of seemingly healthy, symptom-free dahlia plants carry at least one dormant virus. Basically the majority of tubers out there may carry a virus without showing signs of disease.
The primary way dahlia viruses spread is through insect activity. To combat this, we follow a rigorous pest control plan throughout the growing season. We don’t allow aphids or thrips in our fields and treat for them at the first sign of activity.
Any plants that consistently show signs of viral infection are removed. We also cull plants that appear weak or unhealthy, even if no clear virus symptoms are present.
We take tool sanitation seriously by cleaning our snipping tools between cut-flower harvest and between each clump when dividing tubers. We do not offer u-pick to the public.
If a plant shows signs of crown or leafy gall, it is immediately removed. We also remove surrounding soil.
Every tuber we proudly send is one we’d plant ourselves. We honored to share with you a piece of what we pour our hearts and souls into.
